Spice Up Your Life and Improve Your Health

Sunday, March 18th, 2012 ~ 2-5 p.m

In this class we will go over the medicinal properties of simple/common spices
and herbs.  Trish will demonstrate 5 different ways to incorporate spices in your
life. Spice jam, spice oil, dried spice mix, spiced candy, and a spiced drink or two.  
You will make traditional Ayurvedic spice blends that are best for your
constitution an learn what spices are good for the digestive system, respiratory
system, circulation and how you can tell a spice's action/use by its taste.  Fresh
ground spices make a huge difference in the flavor of your food and will help to
improve your overall health!

Pranayam: Breath Exercises for Optimum Health

Sunday, May 6th, 2012 ~ 2-5 p.m.

Prana is vital, life sustaining energy.  We take in Prana through our breath.
Pranayam means harnessing this vital energy force by control and expansion of
Breath. Through certain breathing practices we can control, enhance and channel
this energy to enjoy optimum health.  In this three hour workshop we will try to
understand physiology of Pranayam from Western perspective as well as Ayurvedic
perspective.  Learn What, Why, How and When different Pranayam practices
should be used.  This will be an interactive, experiential and enjoyable workshop.
